Information you choose to provide

General inquiries may include a name, email address, telephone number, connection to the veteran community, selected topic, and message. Veteran applications may include veteran or service status, branch, general location, housing, household, dog experience, practical daily considerations, support goals, and care planning. Volunteer applications may include availability, interests, experience, transportation, and screening information. Dog referrals may include location, ownership or authority, health, behavior, safety, agency contact, and photo links. Shelter partnership inquiries may include organization information, service area, capacity, programs, and partnership interests.

How information is used

Companion Care for Veterans may use submitted information to respond, evaluate requests, assess safety and fit, discuss volunteer or partnership opportunities, coordinate with shelters, rescues, fosters, veterinarians, trainers, agencies, or veteran-service resources, prevent fraud or misuse, and maintain ordinary administrative records.

Dog referrals and animal-welfare sharing

Information about a dog may be shared with shelters, rescues, fosters, animal-control agencies, veterinarians, trainers, transport volunteers, or other legitimate animal-welfare partners when reasonably necessary to evaluate safety, ownership, custody, rescue, care, transport, adoption, or placement. A referral does not itself transfer ownership or custody.

Website and server information

The hosting provider may automatically create technical logs containing an IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, referring page, date and time, and security events. This package does not include advertising trackers or behavioral-marketing analytics.

Email delivery

Website forms send email through the hosting server to companionforveterans@fbdex.com. Email is not guaranteed to be secure and may pass through hosting, email, network, and spam-filter providers.

PayPal donations

The donation section loads PayPal’s donation service and links users to PayPal. PayPal processes payment information under its own terms and privacy practices. Companion Care for Veterans does not receive or store complete payment-card numbers through this website package. PayPal may collect device, account, transaction, and payment information when its button or service is used.

How information may be shared

Information may be shared with directors, volunteers, contractors, advisers, and partners when reasonably necessary to evaluate or address a request. It may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect a person or animal, investigate misuse, respond to a lawful request, or protect the rights and operations of the organization. The organization does not intend to sell website-form information.

Veteran and health information

Companion Care for Veterans is not represented as a health-care provider or HIPAA-covered entity merely because it assists veterans. Do not assume that a website submission receives HIPAA, attorney-client, doctor-patient, counselor-client, VA, or other professional confidentiality protections.

Retention and security

Information may be retained as reasonably useful for responding, evaluating applications, coordinating dog welfare, administering programs, preserving records, complying with law, resolving disputes, and protecting the organization. Reasonable safeguards may be used, but no website, server, payment service, or email system can guarantee absolute security.

Children

The website is directed to adults. A parent, legal guardian, or authorized adult should submit inquiries concerning a minor. The organization does not knowingly seek personal information directly from children through these forms.
